Healthy teeth require lifelong maintenance. Even if your dentist says you have good teeth, you must take care of them daily to avoid issues. You need the correct oral care products and to watch your behaviours.
1. Brush your teeth before bed.
The recommendation to brush twice a day is well known. Still, many of us skip nighttime tooth brushing. However, brushing before bed removes day-long bacteria and plaque.
2. Brush appropriately
Poor tooth brushing is almost as terrible as not brushing at all. Start slowly, rotating the toothbrush in soft circles to remove plaque. Untreated plaque can develop into calculus and gingivitis.
3. Remember your tongue
Tongue plaque can also form. Bad mouth odour and other dental health issues can result. When you brush your teeth, gently brush your tongue.
4. Use fluoridated toothpaste
There's more to toothpaste than whitening power and flavour. Make sure your version has fluoride.
Fluoride is a mainstay in dental health, despite concerns about its effects elsewhere. Because fluoride is the best tooth decay barrier. It prevents decay by combating bacteria and protecting teeth.
5. Value flossing as much as brushing
Regular brushers rarely floss. Jonathan Schwartz, DDS, says flossing isn't simply for removing food and vegetables from between your teeth. “It stimulates gums, reduces plaque, and reduces inflammation.”
These benefits usually result from daily flossing.
6. Stay hydrated.
Water is still the healthiest beverage for oral and general health. Schwartz advocates drinking water after every meal. This can help wipe away sticky and acidic meals and drinks between brushing.
